Molds with a ring

 1)  For metal clay, put a bit of olive oil in the mold firt. Fill the mold. Put more clay into the ring so that the clay overflows a bit

2) Gently remove the clay. Remove excess clay with a knife or an exacto.

3) This is the most difficult and delicate ... With a metal rod, gently remove the clay in the middle of the ring. You can dip the rod in water to soften the clay. Thus, the clay will come off more easily.

4) Gently rub the rod on the inner periphery of the ring to give a beautiful shape.

Frottez doucement jusqu'à obtenir une belle forme.

5) Here is the result. Of course, you can take longer than me and so improve the finish. I did it only to show you how. By putting more time than me and working with the rod dipped in water to refine the edge of the figurine, you will reach a good result. For this example, I took the silver clay.

I found another idea. You can apply the metal clay using a syringe. I dilute the clay with a little water. Using a syringe, I was able to apply the clay into the ring very accurately. However, the demolding is then a delicate operation. By applying a little olive oil, I was able demold out without breaking (before it is dry).

You can get good result with Fimo or other polymer clay. With that kind of dough, you can either use the above method before baking the dough, or bake the dough directly into the mold and remove excess clay inside the ring, with an exacto or small nail scissors. Personally, I prefer to remove excess paste with this kind of material once the figurine baked.
